Justin Gatlin is an American sprinter. He tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2006 and served a 4-year ban. It was determined that he had administrated testosterone. Since his 4-year ban is over, this sportsperson was waiting to be accepted back. But it seems that Justin Gatlin doesn’t know the rules linked with the return to the world of sports. A sportsperson who has served a certain ban caused by administration of performance-enhancing products is not accepted back automatically. He\She must admit publicly that it was a great mistake; he\she should apologize “with tears in his\her eyes” that he\she has applied performance-enhancing medications.
But this American athlete wants to do things his way. The sprinter announced that he had never taken forbidden drugs intentionally. Justin Gatlin claimed that he had tested positive for steroids because a vindictive masseuse had applied a testosterone cream during a massage. In fact this explanation was taken from a Lance Armstrong’s book. Justin Gatlin has not changed the Laurence’s explanation at all in more than 5 years.
Since this American sprinter didn’t admit administrating steroids publicly, sports writers interviewed him many times. He was asked whether he would admit administrating forbidden drugs. Once it has been made clear that Justin Gatlin had taken forbidden drugs intentionally. It was during an interview made by a reporter of New York Times. Justin Gatlin proclaimed that he would admit applying anabolic steroids intentionally in exchange for a embrace! Could you imagine it? The New York Times reporter told the American sprinter that people would embrace him more, if he admits. Nevertheless, Justin Gatlin remained “invincible”, asking: “If I say it right now, are you gonna give me a hug?”
Since Justin Gatlin has already the support of the USA Track and Field (USATF), it is suggested that he will never admit administrating banned medications. It is unclear why he has received the support because Jill Greer, the spokesperson for the USATF, notices that USATF doesn’t support athletes who have ever used steroids for performance-enhancing effects. Such athletes must be ignored, according to USATF. The case related to Justin Gatlin shows that the statement of the spokesperson isn’t respected at all.
