Is steroid use moral issue in our hypocritical society?

Sportswriters frequently write articles about those that have unnaturally increased muscles and strength. Reading their statements, you can see that those that use anabolic steroids and/or other related preparations are harshly demonized. Such persons are criticized in the society. They are named “cheaters”. It is stated that those who take steroids for performance-enhancing effects may become addicted to these preparations. A lot of articles also contain information linked with probable side results of steroids. However certain unwanted reactions occur in steroid users, others are not proven scientifically. For example, it is widely reported about violence and murders committed by steroid users. It is considered that anabolic steroids may lead to uncontrolled behavior that results in crimes. However, so named “roid rage” related to these drugs is considered to be a controversial issue.
Many individuals say that application of anabolic steroids for enhancement of muscle mass and strength, hardening of muscles and fat burning is a moral issue. Let think! Is this statement free from hypocrisy? Why are just anabolic steroids demonized? Do only these drugs make the society unnatural? Let examine other aspects of our society! What do you think about sexual stimulants? It is affirmed that you should not suffer from sexual dysfunctions, when there are proper remedies to get rid of such problems. Moreover, what do you think about anti-aging products? Why should you have evident wrinkles, if there are methods to hide your age? Models and actors use certain medications but they are not called “cheaters”. Students apply certain products for enhancement of their cognitive abilities. They are not demonized too. Certain experts that have conducted several researches claim that those that apply steroids for enhancement of physical capacities are more harshly blamed than those that take certain products to enhance cognitive capacities. Is it fair?
As you see, our society is full of hypocrisy, ignorance and unfair accusations. May you blame steroid users in this society? May you affirm that administration of steroids for enhancement of physical performance is a moral issue? Be real! If you begin to demonize consumers of steroids, don’t forget about other aspects of life!
