Jeffrey George is the owner of a former famous clinic linked with hormone replacement therapy. The clinic was named “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Jeffrew George was charged with illegal sales of anabolic steroids. As it was mentioned by investigators, he began to distribute controlled substances through his clinic illegally. But in fact the owner of “South Beach Rejuvenation” participated in illegal activity of pain clinics established in Florida. He sold steroids via internet.
George and his twin brother Chris were leaders of a pain clinic activity. They got 40 million dollars due to illegal distribution of oxycodone and other analgesics during 2 years. This resulted in their several charges. Jeffrey George faced also a murder charge because one of his patients had died due to overdosing.
Jeffrey George hid his illegal activity through his clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation”. Anabolic steroids were advertising on the internet and in various magazines connected with fitness as a part of treatment conducted by the clinic.
It was not the first arrest of George because of steroids. He was charged with possession of anabolic steroids , intending to distribute them in 2003. This person was sentenced to 8 months in prison. Later this person was involved in illegal sales of anabolic steroids, trying to bypass Florida’s laws that allowed clinics to prescribe and sell steroids legally. This person didn’t have any medical education. But he founded the clinic “South Beach Rejuvenation” and employed several physicians that prescribed steroids without any fear. One of his employees was Daniel Hauser. This doctor got 5, 000 dollars weekly for prescriptions of steroids for clients of “South Beach Rejuvenation”.
Since steroids were sold via internet and customers lived far from the clinic, they were required to perform some tests in clinics which were located near to them. Then they filled results of lab tests in the certain blanks and sent to the “South Beach Rejuvenation” per email. Hauser wrote them prescriptions.
Numerous sales consultants of the clinic used anabolic steroids too. Furthermore, they bought large amounts of steroids with prescriptions and sold them on the side. They also explained their clients how to administrate and administrate together different steroids to achieve better effects in bodybuilding and sports.
Chris, George’s brother, helped his friend, Chris Hutson, financially to found a clinic to distribute steroids. Thus, “LA Health and Rejuvenation” was opened.
Cynthia Cadet and Robert Meek were two physicians who were hired by Hutson to prescribe anabolic steroids. They were paid 1, 000 dollars per week.
The owners of these clinics and doctors employed by them were accused in illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and prescriptions per internet.

A celebrated American actress began to use testosterone at the age of 70 to induce her libido
Jane Fonda is an American actress. This well-known actress received 2 Academy Awards. This celebrated person played the main role in a Franco-Italian science fiction film “Barbarella”.
This celebrated actress told in an interview for “The Sunday Telegraph” that she had taken the steroid testosterone. This was her first time, when she made her intake of testosterone public. This person is 73 years old. She noted that she had begun to administrate testosterone when she was 70 years old. Her purpose was to increase her sex drive. The actress desired to improve her sex life.
It is important to note that Jane Fonda was claimed to be the sex symbol of 1960s. Lately the actress wrote a new book. It was entitled following: “Prime Time: Love, health, sex, fitness, friendship, spirit-making the most of all of your life”. You may guess that she writes what people have to do in order to achieve healthy life, healthy sex and to be satisfied the whole life. A chapter describes methods to enhance sex drive in older individuals. She doesn’t make any referencies to steroids.
Jane Fonda noted about unpleasant reactions of the anabolic steroid testosterone in the interview for “The Sunday Telegraph”. She told that she had stopped administrating the steroid testosterone because of acne . Nevertheless, the actress recommends administrating the steroid testosterone to improve sex life.
It is known that testosterone is an effective product for enhancement of sex drive. But side reactions of this medication can be quite dangerous. The Food and Drug Administration didn’t approve this medicine to increase sex drive in women. Several people are sure that conservative attitudes to sexuality of women disturbed the FDA from approval of this product for female sex drive.

Some actors deny steroid use
Steroids are definitively taken by different actors. You may observe obvious changes in physique of actors in short period of time. For example, a certain actor has played a role in a film, being quite thin, then, after short time he plays a role with increased muscles. How can actors induce their muscle mass in short period of time? The answer is clear. They administrate anabolic steroids. But actors deny that they apply performance-enhancing drugs.
Jason Momoa in “Conan the Barbarian”, Chris Hemsworth in “Thor” and Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” increased their muscles significantly to play certain roles. Undoubtedly, this fact led to questions about intake of steroids. But the actors refused to answer the questions related to administration of performance-enhancing drugs.
As it is known, Jason Momoa induced his muscle mass by 30 pounds in order to play Conan. An actress, Rose McGowan, who also played in “Conan the Barabarian” noted that Momoa reached that results not due to steroids. Jason Momoa noted that he wanted to correspond to a Frank Frazzeta painting without administration of steroids. It would be ideally, according to this actor. But he noticed that our world and life were not ideal. Momao said that he had trained hardly. Furthermore, this actor followed a strict diet. He ate broccoli, peanut butter, yams and chicken breast continually.
As for Chris Hemsworth, this actor induced his muscle mass by 20 pounds in order to play Thor. He confirmed that he had eaten very much. The actor noted that he had eaten and he seemed as if he were busy with an important thing. He claimed that it had been quite difficult to eat, when he was not hungry. Moreover, he had to eat large amounts of food. According to his words, it was too exhausting.
It is interesting to note that Hemsworth never lifted weights before playing his role in “Thor”. Couldn’t you find this factor unreal without steroid use? Nevertheless, he confirmed that he hadn’t administrated anabolic steroids.
Chris Evens also enhanced muscle mass significantly to play Steve Rogers in the film “Captain America: The First Avenger”. He confirmed that he had increased muscles due to trainings and a strict diet.

Terry Newton was the first professional sportsman that tested positive for HGH from blood test
Players of the NFL distrust methods applied by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to understand the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) made a decision to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, certain skeptic words linked with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be just a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Several experts that are not involved in the WADA activity directly don’t agree with the methods applied by this agency. They justify the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a main chronicler of intake of steroids in American football, confirms that players of the NFL mistrust the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skepticism of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, says that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH should be transparent. The WADA applies the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is necessary to note that according to some specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test is not proved scientifically. It is not trustworthy. Catlin claims that this test is not good for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which may be used by the WADA to determine sportspersons that utilize HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method which is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t applies this method to determine consumers of HGH.
According to Sonksen, workers of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by scientists, the HGH biomarker test is more useful than HGH isoform test.
Although experts confirm about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t intend to change the method.

Potential alternative preparations to increase muscles without side effects
Scientists want to find alternative products to anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. They are sure that sportspersons may soon have another way to induce muscles. The Salk Institute has said that the efforts of the scientists have got success. Late researches have displayed that suppression of a genome regulator which is known as “NCoR1” causes enhacement of muscle size, energy and endurance. The leader of the studies conducted in the Salk Institute, Ronald Evans, notices that this knowledge can contribute in development of certain new products which will benefit not only for sportsmen and bodybuilders that train but also for people that have sedentary lifestyle.
The scientists of the Salk Institute note about persons that can’t do physical exercises because they suffer of various health problems, such as diabetes, frailty, immobility and other physical or psychological factors that cause sedentary lifestyle. The scientists put efforts to develop some specific medications which could benefit for sedentary people so, as exercises benefit for healthy individuals. Now they make experiments with sedentary mice.
As for anabolic steroids, they can cause some muscle-building effects in sedentary people. But people that take anabolic steroids must train and change their diets in order to reach more significant effects.
If new medicines which block NCoR1 are developed by scientists successfully, they will cause essential changes in sedentary persons. But can you imagine which benefits will be caused in sportspersons?
But there is also an important difference between anabolic steroids and NCoR1 suppression. It is known that anabolic steroids cause side results; some of them may be quite dangerous for health and even for life. Furthermore, anabolic steroids can cause serious side effects especially in females. But as for NCoR1 suppression, specialists assure that medicines that will block this genome regulator will not lead to side effects.
There is an article about NCoR1 suppression that has the following title: “NCoR1 Is a Conserved Physiological Modulator of Muscle Mass and Oxidative Function”. It describes results of various experiments which involved mice and nematodes. The experiments have shown that NCoR1 suppression benefits for muscle mass very much. The mice with suppression of this genome regulator had got more increased muscles and ran faster than others.
Unfortunately, the mice with NCoR1 suppression were not compared with the mice that were given anabolic steroids. If these two types of mice were compared, the results of the experiments would be very valuable for further researches and conclusions.
It is possible to notice that elder persons and persons that have muscle dystrophy will be soon involved in researchers to check positive effects of new potential medications.

A recent investigation displayed that collaboration of the UKAD with law enforcement agencies couldn’t be overestimated
Carl Fletcher, a shot-putter from Britain, can’t take part in competitions four years. The ban was claimed by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) because he was accused in trafficking anabolic steroids. Carl Fletcher distributed more than 15 types of steroids. It was determined that HGH, testosterone and Trenbolone belonged to the preparations that had been sold by this famous person. The Liverpool Crown Court sentenced this man to 9 months in jail.
It is interesting to note that the shot-putter from Britain never tested positive for any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. Don’t you find this fact strange? How could it be? One may suppose that methods applied by anti-doping agencies are not effective enough to catch steroid users that participate in international sport competitions.
The WADA and the UKAD try to release sports from cheating and administration of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. These organizations also work together with law enforcement organizations in order to reach the needed results.
The UKAD noticed that anti-doping officials would be allowed to supply information about names of sportspersons who took anabolic steroids.
This case showed that the collaboration between the UKAD and law enforcement is very effective. It proved that law enforcement organizations may help greatly to detect the sportspersons that utilize anabolic steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. It is not possible to overestimate the role of these organizations in catching of cheaters in sports. Andy Parkinson, the CEO of the UKAD, confirms that if law enforcement agencies collaborate with the UKAD, they will have success.
The Merseyside Police and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) investigated a certain case linked with administration of steroids by officers at the St. Helens Basic Command Unit. It was found out that Fletcher had participated in the illegal activity conducted by some of his relatives. This resulted in Fletcher’s suspension from competitions till November 8, 2015.

Certain athletes from Spain do not understand how Yannick Noah could write such stupid things about steroids in sports
Sportsmen from Spain criticized the French former tennis player, Yannick Noah. This athlete wrote an unbelievable article “La Potion Magique” which was published in the French newspaper “Le Monde”. This former athlete notices in his work that athletes from Spain have some priorities and win competitions because they administrate anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. He claims that Spain has more loyal attitude to intake of steroids than France; that’s why Spanish athletes have more enhanced muscles and are successful in competitions.
Rafael Nadal, a famous a sportsperson from Spain, points out that Yannick Noah wrote completely stupid statements and comments in his work. He is surprised how Noah’s work was allowed to be published in the newspaper. Rafael Nadal, the winner of 10 Grand Slam titles, claims that Yannick Noah doesn’t write such things which are worthy to be published. According to the Spanish sportsperson, statements of the former tennis player from France do not deserve being made public.
David Ferrer, a professional tennis player from Spain, claims that Yannick Noah is an ignorant man. Ferrer doesn’t understand how a man like Noah that was a professional tennis player and knows the way sport works can confirm such things.
Tennis is not the only area of sports in which Spain had success. Spanish basketball players won the 2011 FIBA European Championships. Alberto Contador, a cyclist from Spain, won the 2010 Tour de France and the 2011 Giro d’Italia.
Josep Guardiola, a Spanish football director, says that Yannick Noah has to prove, if he confirms that athletes from Spain take steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. But if he is not able to prove it, he should close his mouth.
French sportspersons support attitude of Spanish sportspersons to Yannick Noah. They criticize him too. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a famous French tennis player, David Douillet, the Sports minister of France, and Frederic Moncassin, the director of the cycling Team Type 1 belong also to that people that do not agree with the statements of Noah.

Some parents place their children in dangers because they manufacture steroids at home
Ruben Jaramillo, a person in New Mexico, is charged with child abuse. Police invaded his house and found out that his house was an underground lab which had manufactured anabolic steroids. According to New Mexico laws, an individual may be charged with child abuse, if he\she even only allows children to be there, where the chemical compounds or proper equipment utilized for production or keeping of these banned products are present.
When the Albuquerque Police Department’s Eastside Narcotics Team invaded the house, they found out that there was an underground lab in it. Police oficcers found some kilograms of raw powder for manufacture of steroids, such substances, as benzyl alcohol and sunflower oil, more than 150 vials of anabolic steroids. Several vials were labeled “Testosterone Cypionate”. Moreover, police reported that information related to prices, quantities and types of steroids had been recovered too. Chemical substances were in various rooms around the house, including the bedroom and the kitchen.
Ruben’s two daughters of 11 and 13 years old were at home, when police raided the house.
It is known that New Mexico is not the only state where the manufacture of anabolic steroids can be treated as child abuse. At least 10 other states have got similar laws. Such laws have certain basis.
Chemical substances may be toxic. They may have negative influence on children’s health. It is necessary also to keep in mind that there is a risk of fires and explosions of certain chemical substances. Parents that produce anabolic steroids at home do not take in consideration their children’s health. The children face great dangers in such cases. How may children live in a methamphetamine lab and avoid dangers?
Parents that only administrate steroids differ from those that manufacture them, especially at home.
This is the first situation in Albuquerque, when manufacture of anabolic steroids is defined as child abuse by prosecutors.

Why wasn’t publish the whole book of George Laraque?
Georges Laraque described his difficult life of sports in a book “The story of the NHL’s unlikeliest tough guy”. He desired to tell about his life to others. Georges Laraque noticed also about administration of anabolic steroids in the National Hockey League (NHL). These aspects about intake of steroids by the NHL’s players seemed to be very interesting. The Canadian press published only the quotes related to this endless subject. The rest of the book was neglected.
Georges Laraque claimed in an interview that he had never administrated performance-enhancing drugs. Moreover, the author said that he hadn’t mentioned any names of the athletes that had used steroids. The book is indeed an autobiography.
The author describes some ways in order to determine whether a hockey player takes steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs or not. Here are 2 ways mentioned by him:
1. A hockey player whose weight has been increased by more than 40 pounds in a short period of time must be using steroids.
2. A hockey player whose weight has been reduced significantly in short period of time in order to correspond to the indications of the Winter Olympics must be taking steroids.
Of course, all sportsmen, including hockey players, know that they will be tested for steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by the WADA. That’s why they stop taking the banned products certain time before the Olympics. It helps them to escape from probability of testing positive for these drugs.
But this is not the chief idea of the book. George Laraque desired to show that a child is required to put immense efforts to become a celebrated professional sportsman in spite of racial intolerance and bullying. But the media is not interested in this theme. The media is always ready to publish stories connected with intake of steroids in sports.
George Laraque didn’t have a goal to name the hockey players who utilized steroids.
Of course, the media asks George Laraque to mention the names of the NHL’s players that use steroids.

Some distribution steroid organizations avoid direct interactions between dealers and customers
A two-year investigation detected and shut a huge underground lab connected with steroids. The investigation was conducted under name “Operation Bulk Up”. It was a well-organized activity of the proper authorities in Lebanon (Ohio).
As it was found out, a distributor of steroids sold these preparations to members of the Cardio Strength Center of the YMCA. So, when the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office was told about it, the investigations started. The decision of the Drug Task Force was to send an officer that had to pretend being a member of the YMCA to the steroid distributor. Major John Burke, the leader of the Warren County Drug Task Force, was chosen for this purpose.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA, was the only individual at this association that was told about the investigation. He had ability to keep all things he knew about the operation of the Drug Task Force in secret. So, a huge steroid distribution organization was detected.
32 persons participated in the illegal activity related to distribution of steroids. They were accused in corrupt activities, trafficking and possession of steroids. The investigation intended to catch only producers and distributors of steroids. However the investigation didn’t focus on clients that purchased these drugs, the officials noted that professional sportspersons and bodybuilders belonged to the customers.
The proper authorities seized 600,000 dollars that were claimed to be a profit from selling of steroids, 300, 000 dollars in cash and vehicles and 100 weapons.
Mike Caroll, the President and CEO of the YMCA talked openly to media about the results of the investigation. He didn’t fear to mention that he had taken part in this activity to catch the criminal organization. Caroll told that he was very glad to find out about the positive results.
It is important to notice that it was quite difficult to detect the criminal organization. Major Burke had to put efforts to purchase steroids from a distributor. As a result of the investigation, an underground laboratory in Tennessee was detected. It manufactured steroids in injectable form. The raw was imported from China. The leaders of distribution were Ronald Herbort and Matthew Geraci.
According to the undercover agent, direct interactions between distributors and customers were avoided in this organization. There was a specific organized locker system that gave possibility to avoid personal interactions.
Although this activity linked with manufacture and distribution of steroids was well-organized, the authorities could detect it to shut the lab. The result of the investigation displays that it can be confirmed the following statement: if law enforcement gives chief priority to such operations, positive results can be reached.

The HGH isoform ratio test is not useful
NFL players mistrust methods applied by the WADA. Why did the mistrust appear? Let try to find out the reason.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) made a decision to test players of the National Football League for HGH. However the NFL Players’ Association has agreed, some skeptic arguments linked with the grade of trustworthiness of blood test for HGH were expressed. This test is going to be only a part of the testing for anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing substances.
Some experts who are not connected with the WADA activity directly are skeptic to the methods used by this agency. They support the skepticism of the NFL players.
Matt Chaney, a chief chronicler of administration of steroids in American football, is sure that the NFL players are skeptic to the WADA anti-doping tests not without any reason. Skeptic attitude of the players is justified by Matt Chaney.
Don Catlin, the director of Anti-Doping Research, says that methods of the WADA for detection of HGH should be transparent. The WADA uses the HGH isoform ratio test elaborated by Christian Strasburger.
It is important to note that according to some specialists, the HGH isoform ratio test is not proved scientifically. It is not trustworthy. The Director of Anti-Doping Research notes that this test is not useful for detection of HGH at all.
There is another test which may be utilized by the WADA to catch sportspersons who apply HGH. Sonksen introduced a certain HGH testing method that is based on physiological biomarkers. But the WADA doesn’t use the method of Sonksen to detect consumers of HGH.
According to Sonksen, employees of the WADA are not specialists in this area. That’s why they do not see the priority of one method over the other. But as it was proved by specialists, the HGH biomarker test is better than HGH isoform test.
Although scientists note about difference between these two tests, the WADA doesn’t want to to use the method elaborated by Sonksen.

Administration of steroids by sportsmen that participated in the Sydney Olympics
All sprinters in 100 meter final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics were suspected in administration of anabolic steroids. Can you imagine it? Although a lot of things were done to avoid administration of the banned preparations in sport, it is not free from these medications.
Victor Conte, the founder of BALCO, noted in an interview about application of steroids by the 100 meter finalists of the 2000 Olympics. Maurice Greene, Ato Boldon, Obadele Thompson, Darren Campbell, Dwain Chambers, Aziz Zakari, Jon Drummond and Kim Collins took the banned preparations.
Victor Conte confirms that Dwain Chambers, the British sportsperson, administrated steroids. Conte supplied these preparations to Chambers in 2003. As it is known, Chambers administrated tetrahydrogestrinone.
Maurice Green, the American sportsman, administrated steroids, testosterone cream, EPO and some stimulants. Angel Guillermo Heredia reported that he had provided these drugs to Maurice Green. But it is important to note that this American sportsman started to purchase these medications from Heredia after he had won 2 medals in Olympics.
However Victor Conte doesn’t know about all nuances related to possession and application of steroids by these all sportsmen who participated in the Sydney Olympics, he confirms that performance-enhancing drugs played their role at the women’s 100 meter final of the 2003 Championship in France. Conte supplied steroids to five of the finalists.
Kelly White, the winner, bought the banned drugs from Conte too. After it was found out that she had taken Modafinil, she forfeited her gold medals. Later Kelly White said that she had taken tetrahydrogestrinone and the blood booster EPO.
Conte wasn’t surprised about the advance of anti-doping agencies related to steroids in sport.

Kathy Jager will be allowed to compete at the age of 70
Kathy Jager, a famous sportswoman, tested positive for anabolic steroids at the 2011 USA National Masters Outdoor Track And Field Championships in Berea. That’s why this sportswoman was excluded from participation in competitions. Kathy Jager must not compete till the age of 70. This is the decision of the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
This sportswoman used steroids because these products were prescribed by the physician to stabilize her hormone balance. According to the rules of World Anti-Doping Agency, sportspersons may take steroids for medical needs and participate in competitions, if they receive a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). But as it is known, Kathy Jager did not receive a TUE that could allow her to use these substances without being banned from competitions.
It is necessary to observe that this popular sportswoman doesn’t treat application of anabolic steroids seriously.
This sportswoman tested positive for methyltestosterone at the 1999 World Association of Veteran Athletes World Championships in Gateshead (Great Britain) after she had broken world records in running of 100 meters. That competition was between sportspersons of 55-59 years old. It was the first time she was banned for application of banned substances. Now it was her second time.
As it was found out, this popular sportswoman utilized EstraTest HS that contained esterified estrogens and methyltestosterone in a pill.
Kathy Jager pointed out that she had administrated EstraTest for medical purposes. But the World Masters Association didn’t believe and refused to allow her to compete.
Kathy Jager’s case caused many debates. Several people condemned her for application of banned medications, others justified her.
When she was banned the first time, she took steroids in order to avoid menopausal problems. The drugs were prescribed by her healthcare provider. Later she ceased administrating prescribed medications and started to administrate herbal preparations.
So, this woman must not take part in competitions till the age of 70 years old. If she had received a TUE, she could compete. But nobody knows whether the WADA will give her a TUE or not.
