Fight between Victor Ortiz and Andre Berto was canceled

The Haitian-American professional boxer Andre Berto tested positive for the steroid Nandrolone. The drug testing was conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).
 Andre Berto had to meet Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. This boxer agreed to submit to random drug testing before the fight. Both “A” and “B” urine samples indicated about application of the anabolic steroid Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested boxers and caught them utilizing steroids. The first of them was the boxer Lamont Peterson. He had to fight against Amir Khan. It is quite ironically that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. A carbon isotope ratio test conducted by the VADA showed that exogenous testosterone was in this boxer’s system some weeks before the fight.
The tests conducted by the VADA influenced greatly on financial position of several companies. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost significant potential profit due to Lamont Peterson’s positives. It was determined by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not influence greatly on financial position of certain promotional companies because another boxer will possibly replace Andre Berto and will meet Ortiz.
The boxer Andre Berto didn’t provide any explanation for his positives. This fighter hired the attorney Howard Jacobs that would represent and defeat him.
Berto confirmed that he had never taken steroids. So, he claimed that he investigated with his attorney what could cause positives for steroids. Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard work and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs defeated many other athletes that turned out to be victims of contaminated dietary supplements.
It is confirmed that since the steroid Nandrolone has very long half life and it is detected easily, it isn’t very popular among those who dope. But it has been determined numerous times that some food supplements contained the ingredient nandrolone which caused positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each substance is written on the label, sportspersons become victims of contaminated sport supplements.
